About the artist.
Megan Debicki is a contemporary watercolour artist based in Adelaide, South Australia. Her enchanting, fairy‑tale inspired illustrations blend whimsical storytelling with organic elements, creating a distinctive visual world filled with intricate detail, wonder, and quiet depth. Drawing from childhood stories, folklore, and the natural environment, Megan’s work invites viewers into imaginative spaces where narrative and nature intertwine.
Megan studied Visual Arts at the University of South Australia, where she developed a deep appreciation for the relationship between creativity and the natural world. This foundation, combined with her lifelong passion for children’s illustration, continues to shape her approach to painting.
In 2006, Megan received the Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society Award in recognition of her emerging talent and dedication to her craft. Her work has since been exhibited in a range of galleries and community spaces, including Gallery One at Mitcham, Pepper Street Arts Centre at Magill, and Blackwood Library’s Open Community Exhibition in 2025. In 2023, Megan held a solo exhibition at Westfield Marion as part of their Art Story installation series, and she currently has a piece on display in Pepper Street’s 2026 SALA exhibition Nature Reimagined.
Megan balances her creative practice with raising a family and working as a primary school teacher, weaving her love of storytelling, nature, and imagination into both her art and everyday life.
